NUPACE Application Checklist

Before starting the application procedure, please check your eligibility and the documentation.

Eligibility

To apply to NUPACE, students must meet the requirements listed at:

Required Scanned Documents

For the following documents a scanned PDF file of the ORIGINAL should be uploaded onto the application system.

1.
Official certificate of enrolment as a student (to be issued by the institution presently being attended)
2.
Official transcript(s) of academic records (to be issued in English)
1) Graduate students should submit academic records for both undergraduate and graduate studies.
2) Transfer students should submit academic records for all institutions attended.
3.
Recommendation Letter (Use the designated NUPACE form (Word or PDF), if possible)
4.
Language proficiency supporting documents, i.e., TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, CEFR, CET-6, or Japanese Language Proficiency Test <JLPT> score sheets. (Please enquire at nupace-admissions@t.mail.nagoya-u.ac.jp about the validity of your internationally-recognised test score if it is not listed above.)

Health Certificate (use the designated NUPACE form, if possible)

Copy of the information page of your passport, where available.
7.
Identical photograph: Solid-colour background, showing a close-up of your full head and upper shoulders. The digital data should be uploaded onto the NUPACE online application site. Do not wear sunglasses/tinted glasses, or headwear, unless this is for religious or medical reasons.
8.
Declaration of Applicable Specific Categories
Applicable only to graduate and research students, with the exception of those whose research is only in the humanities and social sciences field.
However, if your research is a combination of humanities and science you are required to submit this document.
9.
Statement of bank account balance or financial assistance (This requirement applies to those students who wish to participate in NUPACE, even if they are not nominated for a JASSO scholarship. Students applying for a one-semester exchange should enclose a bank balance or certificate of financial assistance verifying that they have funds equivalent to JPY 500,000; students applying for a one-year exchange need to verify that they have JPY 1,000,000. The bank account may be held in the name of the applicant, or a close family member.)
